Two Oceans Marathon appoints Debra Barnes as Race Director

The Two Oceans Marathon NPC Board is proud to announce the appointment of sports events, marketing and sponsorship dynamo Debra Barnes as Race Director of the Two Oceans Marathon (TOM). She assumes overall responsibility for the world’s most beautiful marathon.

As an accomplished event director, Debra Barnes brings to the position 25 years of extensive expertise in sports event management, commercial partnerships development, sponsorship and marketing. As a respected sports industry professional, and former chief marketing officer of the Two Oceans Marathon, she has held senior positions in the industry and has managed a number of high-profile global and national sporting events.

Her passion for sports, sports development and measurable social impact in particular, have been some of the hallmarks of her achievements to date.

Says current TOM NPC Chairperson, Rodney Maharage, ‘Debra understands the dynamics of the industry and we are thrilled that she is committed to using her decades of experience as a leader in this ever-changing industry, to further develop our Two Oceans Marathon brand beyond its current two-day format’.
