The Western Cape’s most prestigious race, the Totalsports Two Oceans Ultra Marathon, takes athletes on a spectacular course around the Cape Peninsula. It will next be held on Saturday, 13 April 2024. The Two Oceans Marathon, South Africa’s best loved road race, is often voted the most breathtaking course in the world due to the natural splendour of the course. Highlights include Chapman’s Peak, Muizenberg, St James, Kalk Bay, Constantia and Newlands.
In 2023, just under 11 000 runners entered to compete in the gruelling, but spectacular, Totalsports Two Oceans Ultra Marathon. In 2024, we are gearing up to welcome 14 000 runners to the start line!
The spirited support runners receive on Race Day is incredible, with thousands of spectators from all over the city converging on the route to help runners #ConquerTheCurrent.
The Two Oceans Marathon contributes up to R672 million to the local GDP annually. When measured by this metric, it is Africa’s biggest running event. The Two Oceans Marathon is backed by South Africa’s leading sports apparel retailer, Totalsports.
The Totalsports Two Oceans Ultra Marathon is run under the auspices of World Athletics (WA), Athletics South Africa (ASA) and Western Province Athletics (WPA).
