The Two Oceans Marathon Trail Runs are back – this time with title sponsor MiWayLife at the helm.
Expect breathtaking, challenging routes on the world-famous Table Mountain, a globally iconic tourist attraction which was named one of the New7Wonders of Nature. Expect an expertly curated route for an enhanced trail running experience.
The event comprises two races, both starting on Upper Campus at UCT: A Long Course of 22km, and a Short Course of 12km.

Long Trail Run: Note, there will be a compulsory gear check
– Water: Carry at least 2 litres
– Food: Energy Bar/ Sandwich/ Banana.
– A cell phone charged with organiser’s number in Ziplock bag (084 577 9840 medical emergencies only.)
– Windbreaker and disposable poncho or waterproof jacket with sealed seams
– Space Blanket + Whistle
NB: The above compulsory kit will be checked at the Start and may be verified at any time during the race or at the Finish. Runners that do not have the compulsory kit when checked may be disqualified.
ROUTE DESCRIPTION
Starting at the UCT Tennis Courts, head up to Rhodes Memorial Road, following the Jeep track towards the Blockhouse. Continue along the contour path, passing Woodstock Cave, and proceed past Oppelskop and Devil’s Peak.
Continue on the contour path past Silverstream Waterfall and Platteklip Gorge. From here, follow the contour path to Union Ravine, then continue towards India Venster. Drop down at India Venster to Tafelberg Road, turn left towards Kloof Neck.
At the second bend, at the boom gate, turn right onto the jeep track and follow it all the way to Deer Park. Follow the contour path towards and above Murray Quarry, heading back towards the Blockhouse, and eventually down to Newlands Dam.
From there, take the track back to the starting point at UCT Tennis Courts.

ROUTE DESCRIPTION
Starting at the UCT Tennis Courts, head along Rhodes Memorial Road towards the Blockhouse. Take a left turn onto the Contour Path, following it all the way to Skeleton Gorge.
Along the way, you’ll pass through Waterfall Ravines, Dark Gorge, Newlands Ravine, and Window Gorge. At Skeleton Gorge, descend towards the Jeep track, turn right, then left.
Continue along the jeep track past Kirstenbosch Upper Parking, then head towards Newlands Forest.
Pass the Newlands Braai Area above the dam, and finish back at the UCT Tennis Courts.
The event is run under the auspices of the IAAF, Athletics South Africa, Western Province Athletics and SAAMES.
The Compulsory Equipment/Kit rule for the Long Trail Runs is strictly enforced, and there is an equipment check upon entering the Start Pen. If you do not have the required equipment with you, you will not be allowed to start the race.
In addition, Long Course trail runners may be subject to a gear check along the route to ensure that you still have the right kit.
