The Sports Science Institute of South Africa (SSISA) is once again the official Health, Fitness and Wellness partner of the 2023 Totalsports Two Oceans Marathon. SSISA has been a close friend of the Two Oceans Marathon for over two decades, focusing on embedding a scientific approach to best practice when it comes to sporting performance.

The Sports Science Institute of South Africa was established in 1994, and since then SSISA has been at the forefront of sports science advancements by nurturing some of the world’s best athletic leaders. SSISA’s research-focused approach is based on its long standing relationship with the HPALS (Health through Physical Activity, Lifestyle and Sports Research) research centre of the University of Cape Town (UCT), who are also global pioneers in  optimizing human performance.

The CEO of the Sports Science Institute of South Africa, Dr Mandla Moyo’s vision for the Institute is to be a centre of excellence that helps every athlete reach their true potential.

Dr Moyo congratulates the Two Oceans Marathon for once again attracting a full crop of runners for 2023, who each have an inspiring story to create, whether completing a first half-marathon or breaking a course record for the Ultra. With SSISA’s close ties to the Totalsports Two Oceans Marathon, it hopes to continually improve the quality of sporting performance in our great country and fly the South African flag high.
