Why did you change to the ballot/draw system for both the Ultra Marathon and Half Marathon? It feels like I’m entering a lottery, so I don’t know what my chances of securing an entry are.

The demand for entries for both the Ultra Marathon and Half Marathon by far exceeds the number of entries available. In line with international best practice, we have changed to this ‘draw’ system which is the ‘fairest’ as it levels the playing fields.
The advantage to you as a runner is that you won’t lose out just because you couldn’t get in on a first come, first served basis.
If your internet connection is slow or you don’t have internet access, you no longer have to worry as you have several days to go into the draw. You now have a smooth, inclusive, fair and audited process without the rush and anxiety of having to get into the entry system ‘first’.
You also have a much longer time in which to pay with the ballot system.
