Home From Home Trust

Home from Home (HfH), a non-profit organization, has provided cluster foster care to orphaned,
abused, neglected, and abandoned children in the Western Cape province of South Africa since 2005.
We have expanded over the years and now run over 30 foster homes across 16 communities. This translates
into nearly 200 children receiving specialized support and supervision.
Our model of care is based on providing the foundation of a loving family home for these children.
Feeling that they belong to a real family, albeit non-biological, is at the heart of the effectiveness of the
Home from Home model. Each foster home is a comfortable and safe space with up to six children. The
foster parents are supported and supervised by a head office team of social workers and professional
service providers. This enables us to provide this second chance at experiencing family life for these
children.
The additional pillars of the model are educational support, therapeutic intervention, a reunification
program and an aging-out/transition support program. The success of this model has resulted in
many South African organizations seeking Home from Home’s consultation and replicating this method.
