When do I need to enter with a Temporary License and what are the consequences?

If you are participating as a temp-licenced runner, you are not insured, and TOM will not be held responsible for any consequences or any loss. We strongly encourage all runners to join a running club and be fully licenced.
South African runners/runners who are not from South Africa but are living or working in SA must join an official Running Club for both the Ultra Marathon and Half Marathon. Running Clubs will provide their members with official ASA Licence Numbers. Only Rest-of-Africa and International Runners not living or working in South Africa are exempted.
Temporary Licences can be purchased only through the TOM entry application process. Please be advised that the Temporary Licence is not a physical item, but rather linked to the your tracker on your race number.
If you did not join a Running Club to receive your ASA Licence Number or purchase a Temporary Licence through the TOM entry application process, you will unfortunately forfeit your entry. It is important that you update your current year ASA Licence Number or selected the Temporary Licence option on your profile.
