For the past 143 years (since1881), the National Institute for the Deaf (NID), situated in the Western Cape, is the foremost organisation in South Africa providing all-inclusive services to the Deaf and persons with hearing loss in South Africa and Africa. NID programmes include: Care for Deaf Adults with Multiple Disabilities, Deaf Elderly Care and the NID Sign Language Centre. Our vision is to develop the full potential of every person with hearing loss.
