Kids Haven

Kids Haven protects and cares for children. The organization is local to Benoni, east of Johannesburg and works into communities all over the east rand. Started as a shelter for street children in 1992, Kids Haven now cares for 150 children, boys and girls from the age of 3 to 21.
Children come into care at Kids Haven because they are severely neglected, abused or even abandoned by their parents. Older children have challenging behaviour of years of neglect and abuse until no one wants to care for them anymore. Every child has missed opportunities at school, never attending school, being excluded from school or jumping from school to school.
These are our children and we do all that we can to heal their trauma and build hope for a different future. Schooling is an important part of HOPE and we help children to get back into school, meet the social and academic challenges of school and succeed all the way to Matric and beyond.
Every step you take over the ultra-marathon or half marathon route keeps a child in school, ensuring that Kids Haven children can be like any other children, in school, learning and growing.
