The Totalsports Two Oceans Marathon has reinforced its strong commitment to runner safety with the appointment of Mediclinic and ER24 as its official medical service providers for 2026.

By appointing two of South Africa’s most respected healthcare and emergency response organisations, the Totalsports Two Oceans Marathon will further strengthen its on-route and finish-line medical operations, ensuring that the tens of thousands of runners, volunteers and spectators expected at the World’s Most Beautiful Marathon benefit from world-class care and rapid response capabilities on event day.

This strategic commitment enhances start, on-route and finish-line medical capabilities and underscores the event’s dedication to world-class care, ensuring robust health and safety support for runners, volunteers and spectators at the World’s Most Beautiful Marathon,” says Chris Goldschmidt, Chairperson of the Two Oceans Marathon NPC.

Echoing this sentiment, Wade Bromfield, General Manager of the Totalsports Two Oceans Marathon, emphasizes the vital role Mediclinic and ER24 will play in ensuring a safe and seamless race experience for all participants:

Their expertise ensures world-class medical support throughout the event – from start to finish – giving runners confidence and allowing us to focus on delivering an exceptional experience at South Africa’s most iconic road running event.”

Mediclinic and ER24 will provide comprehensive care along the routes, with 10 medical points on the Ultra Marathon and 5 on the Half Marathon route. A full medical facility, including ICU and trauma services, will be available at the Finish. Pre-hospital care and transportation to the nearest hospital will be provided by ER24.

As Mediclinic’s Chief Medical Director for the 2026 Totalsports Two Oceans Marathon, Dr Darren Green will oversee all aspect of medical care throughout the event, from routine treatments to critical medical emergencies along the route.

“We are excited to be the official medical service partner, bringing our state-of-the-art medical offering to this iconic event,” confirms Dr Green. “Our team of medics, doctors and nurses will be on the ground, ensuring that runners, volunteers, and spectators have access to the highest standard of care at every stage. We will have medical points strategically placed along both the Ultra and Half Marathon routes, a fully equipped hospital facility at the Finish, and pre-hospital support from ER24. Our goal is to allow every participant to focus on their race, knowing that expert medical care is available throughout the race.”
