Cipla named official Recovery Partner of the 2026 Totalsports Two Oceans Marathon

The organisers of the Totalsports Two Oceans Marathon (TTOM) are proud to welcome Cipla as the official Recovery Partner, beginning a three-year partnership in 2026.

Founded in 1935, Cipla is a global pharmaceutical company whose humanitarian approach to healthcare reflects its enduring purpose of “Caring for Life”. With strong community connections wherever it operates, Cipla has earned its place as a trusted partner to global health bodies, industry peers, and all stakeholders, making it a natural fit for this iconic event.

“We are excited to welcome Cipla as the official Recovery Partner of the Totalsports Two Oceans Marathon,” says Chris Goldschmidt, Chairperson of the Two Oceans Marathon NPC. “TTOM is about more than race day – it’s about supporting runners before, during and after they cross the finish line. We are proud to welcome Cipla as our Official Recovery Partner, as their dedication to wellbeing and recovery plays a vital role in helping athletes perform at their best and recover safely.”

Wade Bromfield, General Manager of the Totalsports Two Oceans Marathon, says Cipla’s announcement as Official Recovery Partner delivers exceptional, end-to-end value for runners throughout race week:

“This announcement is about significantly elevating the runner experience at every critical touchpoint of the event. Cipla’s sponsorship allows us to provide tangible and professional recovery support where it matters most. From the Cipla Prep Zone at the Expo, to the Cipla On Route Recovery Zone for the Ultra Marathon (Hout Bay), and dedicated Cipla Recovery Zones at the finish for Trail Run, Ultra Marathon and Half Marathon participants, the focus is firmly on supporting runners when they need it most.

This will see over 200 therapists working across race week, representing a significant investment in runner wellbeing and recovery. This partnership enhances the overall experience of the event and reinforces our commitment to putting runners first.”

Sharing in the excitement, Paul Miller, CEO of Cipla Africa, explains why the brand is proud to support runners as the Official Recovery Partner of the Totalsports Two Oceans Marathon: “We are incredibly excited to partner with the Totalsports Two Oceans Marathon as the Official Recovery Partner. At Cipla, we want people to live a long and healthy life. Therefore, we’ve adopted a holistic approach to healthcare and wellness – of which physical activity is a very important component. Supporting runners in their journey aligns perfectly with our purpose of ‘Caring for Life’, and we are proud to provide services and innovations that help athletes recover, feel good en route and hopefully achieve their personal best. From Cipla Recovery Zones to other engaging initiatives, we look forward to enhancing the runner experience in 2026 and celebrating the achievements of every participant at this iconic event.”

Going the distance

9Miles Project works with disadvantaged and at-risk youth from marginalized communities in Cape Town (particularly the informal settlements in Strandfontein) as well as Elands Bay on the West Coast, and Sea Vista in the Eastern Cape.

Our vision is to offer safe spaces and structured after-school and welfare programs that nurture and empower vulnerable youth and build healthier and more resilient families and communities.

Transformation is achieved through surf therapy, food aid (including a community food program that serves 700 meals per day), supplementary academic support, life skills, and leadership training, educational trips, community events, and day-to-day mentorship and holistic support.

Our slogan “going the distance” is not just something nice to say. We walk a long road with people and passionately believe that everyone is perfect for their purpose, that human potential is unlimited, that with the right support all youth can flourish.
