REGISTRATION, ROUTE, MEDICAL and HYDRATION INFO

Registration

If you’re an International or Rest-of-Africa runner, you and up to two accompanying guests must pre-register for this race, should you wish to participate.

Your participation armbands will be included in your race packs, and colour-coded according to your start batches. You will be permitted to join the race only if you are wearing an official armband.

Route

Venue opens: 08h00 | Venue closes: 12h00

You will start at the Forecourt and proceed through the East Gate of Green Point Park. At the lighthouse, you’ll continue along the scenic Sea Point Promenade.

Upon your return, you will follow the same path back, passing the lighthouse once more, and continue along to the Fritz Sonneberg intersection. From there, turn towards the DHL Stadium and finish at the Forecourt.

Marshals will be stationed along the route to guide and support you. For safety reasons, you may be stopped briefly at two major intersections to assist with traffic flow and ensure smooth passage.

Additional services at the route

  • Hydration station: Enjoy a refreshing cold drink upon completing your run.
  • Medical support: A dedicated medical station will be available to provide assistance if needed.
  • Vendors: A coffee vendor will be on site.
  • Toilets: Convenient facilities will be available at the venue for participants and guests.

Race Pack Collection

As a Cape Town International Friendship Run entrant, you are required to collect your race pack containing your official armband at the Expo. You may not collect these once race pack collection closes.

Collecting race pack on behalf of another runner?

  1. Please bring your original ID or driver’s licence.
  2. Please bring the confirmation email (containing the race number) of the runner on whose behalf you are collecting. This confirmation email can be presented in hard copy or digitally, for example, on your phone.
  3. Please bring a digital or hard copy of the ID or driver’s licence of the runner on whose behalf you are collecting at Expo.

Multiple Race Pack Collection

If you are collecting on behalf of a group or team, please ensure that each runner receives his/her correct race pack and official armband. This is vital in order to avoid issues in case of an emergency, or disciplinary measures after the race.

Important

Going the distance

9Miles Project works with disadvantaged and at-risk youth from marginalized communities in Cape Town (particularly the informal settlements in Strandfontein) as well as Elands Bay on the West Coast, and Sea Vista in the Eastern Cape.

Our vision is to offer safe spaces and structured after-school and welfare programs that nurture and empower vulnerable youth and build healthier and more resilient families and communities.

Transformation is achieved through surf therapy, food aid (including a community food program that serves 700 meals per day), supplementary academic support, life skills, and leadership training, educational trips, community events, and day-to-day mentorship and holistic support.

Our slogan “going the distance” is not just something nice to say. We walk a long road with people and passionately believe that everyone is perfect for their purpose, that human potential is unlimited, that with the right support all youth can flourish.
