TOM 2020 certified IAU Gold Label Ultramarathon
TOM 2020 certified IAU Gold Label Ultramarathon

9 March 2020

Every year events are required to submit an application to the International Association of Ultrarunners (IAU) and, based on the evaluation of these submissions, events are designated as bronze, silver or gold status.

The 2019 Two Oceans Marathon was granted Gold Label Status by the IAU in February last year and we are delighted to confirm that on 27 February we received our 2020 Gold Label Status.

The Two Oceans Marathon as an Ultra distance event is aligned to the International Association of Ultrarunners (IAU) that operates under the patronage of World Athletics (WA).

This alignment and Gold Label status also means that all record times set for the 50km and 56km distances during the TOM 2020 Ultramarathon will be eligible for official recognition by the IAU.

The IAU is dedicated to developing ultra-distance running internationally within the Rules & Regulations of Athletics South Africa (ASA) and WA. As the international governing body for ultra-distance running, one of its main objectives is to promote and develop ultra distance running worldwide by encouraging specific activities in each of the IAU Continental Areas.
