Qualifier Window For The 2019 Old Mutual Two Oceans Ultra Marathon Is Open

Runners hoping to be a part of the 50th Old Mutual Two Oceans Ultra Marathon, taking place in Cape Town on Saturday, 20 April 2019, may diarise their qualifying marathon, as the qualifier window opened on 1 July 2018.

All Ultra Marathon participants, including international athletes and Blue Number holders are required to qualify for the race, regardless of the number of OMTOM Ultras run.

Runners may enter the Ultra Marathon first and qualify later, but must submit their qualifying marathon result by 18 March 2019. The 2019 entry process will be confirmed in the coming weeks.

To qualify, runners must meet the minimum result requirement based on the qualifying distance they run. All standard IAAF (ASA in South Africa) affiliated marathons, and/or races longer than 42.2 km will count as qualifying races, provided that the race course if officially measured and the race is officially timed.

In order to qualify for the 2019 OMTOM Ultra Marathon, runners’ qualifier results must meet the following criteria:

  • 42.2km / 26.2 miles – sub 5:00
  • 50km / 31.1 miles – sub 6:30
  • 56km / 34.8 miles – sub 7:00
  • 90km / 55.9 miles – sub 12:00
  • 100km / 62.1 miles – sub 13:30
