Two Oceans Marathon 2020 Trail Run Entries Open This Week on Friday, 27 December, Midday (SA time)

The Two Oceans Marathon (TOM) is pleased to announce that entries for The Two Oceans Trail Runs will open this week, 27 December 2019.

The TOTR distances available are as follows:

  • Short Trail Run – 12,6 km
  • Long Trail Run – 25km

The confirmation of the 11th edition of the much-loved Two Oceans Good Friday Trail Runs will no doubt be welcomed by both local and international trail runners, who have long lauded the TOM Trail routes for their natural splendour and continued to create intense demand for the TOTRs.

Race Director Debra Barnes says: ‘We are pleased to be able to announce the entry opening date for our popular Trail Run series, a firm favourite amongst the avid trail running community. We trust that the 11th installment of the TOTRs on 10 April 2020 will be a thrilling experience once again for our TOM Trail Runners who have been eagerly waiting for this announcement. We thank them for their patience’.

Entry process and entry fees

As in TOM 2019, all participants wishing to enter the TOM 2020 Trail Runs should do so directly through Webtickets.

The fee for each event is as follows, and includes a TOM 2020 goodie bag and T-shirt:

  • Short Trail Run – R850,00
  • Long Trail Run – R1050,00
Permanent TOM Trail Run Blue Number 1 Awarded to Landie Greyling

A Blue Number is awarded to any runner who has completed 10 Ultra or Half Marathons, or Trail Runs; or who has achieved a gold medal in the Ultra Marathon 5 times; or who has won the Half Marathon, Ultra Marathon or Trail Run (any distance) 3 times.

The Two Oceans Marathon therefore extends its warmest congratulations to Landie Greyling, the female winner of 4 long (24km) TOM Trail Runs from 2012 to 2015 on achieving the first TOM Trail Run Blue Number. Landie can look forward to receiving her prestigious Blue Number from us early in the new year.

About the course for the TOM Trail Runs

The Two Oceans Trail Runs (TOTR) boast nestled pathways and dramatic landscapes through Newlands Forest to the lower slopes of Devil’s Peak and beyond. As such, the TOTR series is one of the most scenic in the world.

Trail Run participants start at the University of Cape Town (UCT) at the top of the Jammie Steps. From there, Newlands Forest beckons, and trail runners encounter an exciting and exacting route, regardless of the distance they’ve chosen. Trail runners can expect to encounter steep ascents, technical descents and everything in between!

The TOM Trail Runs are run under the auspices of the IAAF, Athletics South Africa and Western Province Athletics.
