New Board Announcement – Two Oceans Marathon NPC

The Two Oceans Marathon (TOM) NPC is pleased to announce its new board of directors as ratified on 31 October 2022, subsequent to the 13th Annual General Meeting held on 20 October 2022:
The following new directors were appointed:
- Mr Graham Bentz (Pinelands)
- Mr Angelo Kriger (Celtic Harriers)
- Dr David Maralack (Brimstone Itheko)
- Ms Phumizile Mlotshwa (Celtic Harriers)
- Mr Ashraf Orrie (Brimstone Itheko)
- Ms Ilse De Wet (Celtic Harriers)
They fulfil their mandate on the TOM NPC Board of Directors alongside:
- Mr Ian McDonald (Celtic Harriers)
- Mr Paul Murphy (Carbineers Western Province)
- Mr Allan Ryninks (WPA – Wild Runner AC)
- Ms Liezel Short (Satori)
- Mr William Swartbooi (WPA – Easterns Kraaifontein AC)
Mr William Swartbooi has been re-elected as TOM NPC Chairperson for a second term, while Mr. Allan Ryninks has also been re-confirmed as Vice Chairperson for the second consecutive term. Ms Liezel Short now takes up a position as Head of the Finance Committee.
‘As a world class brand, we are looking to protect our brand by re-confirming our commitment to sound governance and executive management principles. We are pleased that as most sporting codes ─ and athletics in particular ─ rebounds post-pandemic, that our brand, too, continues to experience growth and is attracting renewed positive interest from various quarters. Our goal is to keep steering the Two Oceans Marathon from strength to strength,’ says Chairperson William Swartbooi.
Vice Chairperson Allan Ryninks adds, ‘Our primary duty is to ensure that the welfare of this iconic brand is protected, so that we can keep delivering a fantastic race to runners year after year. Sometimes, tough decisions are called for, with fiduciary oversight remaining as important as always and probably more so given the era in which we find ourselves’.
The Two Oceans Marathon NPC warmly welcomes the new board members to the organisation as plans kick into high gear to host Africa’s biggest running event.
