New Chair and Vice Chair to head up Two Oceans Marathon NPC as appointment of board is finalised

At the 15th Annual General Meeting held on 26 September 2024, the following new directors were elected to serve on the Two Oceans Marathon (TOM) NPC Board:
- Mr David Beard (Ordinary Member)
- Dr Andrew Bosch (Western Province Athletics)
- Mr Mokaedi Dilotsotlhe (Ordinary Member)
- Mr Craig February (Celtic Harriers)
- Ms Helga Nefdt (Celtic Harriers)
- Mr Kevin Peters (Western Province Athletics)
- Ms Nombini Zaku (Western Province Athletics)
The above directors will fulfil their mandate on the Board of Directors alongside:
- Ms Toni Cavanagh (Ordinary Member) – Chairperson
- Mr Angelo Kriger (Celtic Harriers) – Vice Chair
- Mr Ian McDonald (Celtic Harriers)
- Mr Ashraf Orrie (Ordinary Member)
- Mr Allan Ryninks (WPA)
Ms Toni Cavanagh was elected as the new Chairperson of the TOM NPC, while Mr Angelo Kriger, chair of the Race Advisory Committee, now also assumes the role of Vice Chairperson.
Toni Cavanagh, appointed to the TOM NPC board in 2023, brings a wealth of expertise as a general manager and director with top corporate brands. Leveraging her extensive leadership experience, Toni has led the Expo Committee with exceptional success and contributed strategically to the Marketing Committee for the Totalsports Two Oceans Marathon 2024.
“As Chairperson of the Two Oceans Marathon NPC, my vision for 2024 – 2025 is to embody the spirit of Ubunye, fostering togetherness and inclusivity. Together, we will elevate this iconic event as a beacon of hope, unity and endurance, inspiring every runner to strive for personal growth and every spectator to witness the triumph of human will”, says Toni.
Her running resume includes nine marathons, over 50 half marathons and numerous long-distance and ultra long-distance trail events. Toni’s remarkable race tally not only reflects her dedication to the sport but is also mirrored in her passion for the running community she serves: “Dedicating your time to others turns their potential into greatness, creating a ripple effect of positive change”.
New Vice Chair Mr Angelo Kriger, a Captain in the South African National Defence Force (SA Navy), joined the TOM NPC Board in 2022.
Angelo looks forward to further augmenting cohesive, cross-departmental planning for Race Day and making further positive contributions to enhance ‘the world’s most beautiful marathon’. As the holder of 13 Two Oceans Half Marathon medals, Angelo is a proud TOM Blue Number Club (BNC) member.
New TOM NPC board member, Mr Mokaedi Dilotsotlhe, is also a Blue Number Club (BNC) member and brings his extensive executive corporate experience to his appointment as Chair of the Finance Committee.
