The Old Mutual Two Oceans Trail Runs takes you through Newlands forest and along the lower slopes of Devil’s Peak, providing you with some of the most breathtaking panaramic views you could hope to find anywhere in the world.

Starting at the top of the Jammie Steps at UCT before heading into Newlands Forest, the routes offer a challenging morning out for beginner and experienced trail runners alike given the varied terrain with its steep ascents and technical descents.

NOTE: Minimum age is 18 (on Race Day).

Important Notes

The event is run under the auspices of the IAAF, Athletics South Africa and Western Province Athletics.

The Compulsory Equipment rule is strictly enforced, and there is an equipment check upon entering the Start Pen. If you do not have the required equipment with you, you will not be allowed to start the race.

In addition, there will be a gear check along the route to ensure that you still have the right kit.

  • Do not run with headphones or any animals.
  • Don’t run if you are sick!
  • DO NOT LITTER! Runners caught littering will be disqualified.
  • Seeding times need to be added to your profile by 18 March 2019 to be placed in the appropriate
  • Seeding batch. No changes will be made at Registration or on Race Day.

You are welcome to take photos, but step out of the way of other runners when you do.

Compulsory Equipment

  1. Water – carry at least 1 litre (we recommend a hydration pack).
  2. Food – banana / sandwich / energy bar(s).
  3. A fully charged cell phone, in a Ziploc bag, with the emergency number (021 937 0324) saved.
  4. Race Number, pinned to your shirt
  5. Your RaceTec timing chip, laced onto your shoe. The chip must be registered in your name and not belong to someone else. Runners who do not own a RaceTec chip (or lost theirs) must purchase one when entering, or at the Expo.
  6. Sunblock and hat recommended.

  4. A waterproof (sealed seams) jacket.

  6. Your RaceTec timing chip, laced onto your shoe. The chip must be registered in your name and not belong to someone else. Runners who do not own a RaceTec chip (or lost theirs) must purchase one when entering, or at the Expo.
  7. Sunblock and hat.
