Getting to the start
The starts of both the Ultra and Half marathons are in Main Road, Newlands. This is a short walk or bus shuttle trip from the parking areas that have been arranged at UCT and local schools. Marshalls will direct runners and their supporters to their start batches. Runners are advised to arrive early to avoid congestion and take the shuttle service or a slow warm up walk to the start.
Getting to the finish
Both races finish on the Rugby Fields at UCT. A shuttle service will take runners and their supporters back to the parking areas.
How to get to the start and where to park from City Centre | Northern and Eastern suburbs | Winelands | Hout Bay and Southern suburbs:
Parking near the start is very limited and runners are advised to make use of the dedicated parking at UCT or the local schools. Please share lifts to reduce congestion.
Runners and spectators coming from the City Centre, Northern Suburbs and the eastern parts of Cape Town will be arriving via the M3, N2, M5 and Imam Horan Road (M24) where parking is available at clearly signposted local schools and UCT accessible with a prepaid parking voucher purchased along with your entry or at registration
The start is a short walk from the various school parking areas. Marshalls will guide runners to their respective starts.
Parking Information
Runners and supporters are advised to make use of the designated parking areas at UCT and local schools. For those that did not purchase a parking disc on entry parking discs should be purchased at registration.
On street parking is very limited and both runners and spectators are advised to park legally and considerately. Illegally parked vehicles will be ticketed and may be towed away.
Parking discs must either have been purchased on entry and limited discs will be available for purchase at Registration.
From the City Centre:
For UCT parking take Exit 7 from the M3 and proceed to your parking area as directed by Traffic Officers and Marshalls.
For parking at schools take Nelson Mandela Boulevard to the N2 and then Exit 8 to Liesbeeck Parkway (M57). Turn right and proceed straight onto Campground Road and then Palmyra Road where parking is available at Groote Schuur High School fields.
From the Northern Suburbs:
For parking at UCT: proceed from the N1 or Koeberg Rd onto the M5 then the N2 westbound, take Exit 6 onto the M3 and then take Exit 7 from the M3 and proceed to your parking area as directed by Traffic Officers and Marshalls.
For parking at the schools: proceed from the N1 or Koeberg Rd onto the M5 then the N2 westbound and then Liesbeeck Parkway (Exit 8). At Liesbeeck Parkway turn left and then proceed straight onto Campground and Palmyra Roads where parking is available at Groote Schuur High School fields.
Alternatively, take the N1, then the R300, then the N2 and then Liesbeeck Parkway (Exit 8). At Liesbeeck Parkway turn left and then proceed straight onto Campground and Palmyra Roads where parking is available at Groote Schuur High School fields.
From the Eastern Suburbs and Winelands areas:
For parking at UCT: from N2 westbound, take Exit 6 onto the M3 and then take Exit 7 from the M3 and proceed to your parking area as directed by Traffic Officers and Marshalls.
For parking at the schools: proceed from the N2 westbound onto Liesbeeck Parkway (Exit 8). At Liesbeeck Parkway turn left and then proceed straight onto Campground and Palmyra Roads where parking is available at Groote Schuur High School fields.
Alternatively, take Imam Horan Rd Road onto Palmyra Road where parking is available at Groote Schuur High School fields.
From Hout Bay and the Southern Suburbs:
Ample parking is available on the Upper Campus of UCT. Discs should be purchased at Registration. From the M3 Northbound take Exit 7 to Woolsack Drive. You will be directed down Woolsack Drive to return upwards to UCT. Runners should arrive early and walk to the start from designated parking areas. Spectators may access the parking areas and use the shuttle service to get to the finish.
