Hi there

It has been a rollercoaster time for us. While the excitement is mounting and we're gearing up for the 2016 Old Mutual Two Oceans Marathon, we also had to say goodbye to Chet Sainsbury, our former race director for almost 30 years, who passed away after a cancer battle earlier two weeks ago.

Chet, also lovingly known as Mr Two Oceans, was undoubtedly one of the finest administrators in South African running. More than that, he was our mentor and friend, and we are poorer without him.

Entries have now officially closed and we are busy with our final seeding run. Your final race details will be SMS'ed to you, so be sure to check that your online profile lists a valid cell phone number.

Happy running and until next week!

There's no sweeter moment for a runner than to find a loved one somewhere along the course - or even a stranger shouting your name.
The great news is that world's most beautiful marathon has some of the world's most beautiful spectator spots, and you can pack a picnic and make a morning of cheering on friends and strangers alike.
Have a look at our handy Spectators' Guide and decide where you want to lend your support.
(Top Tip: have a look at the event road closures and plan how you will get to your chosen spot and where to park.)

As a runner, you know that potential soft tissue injuries are part and parcel of the joy of running. Musculoskeletal injuries comprise a large percentage of Race Day medical complications and can range from mild to severe, including muscle cramps and strains, to tendon and ligament injuries - especially in the knee, ankle and foot. In the latest OMTOM Medical Newsflash, our medical team explore these injuries and how you can prevent them, and why it is extremely dangerous to take painkillers or anti-inflammatories during a race. If you want to see how you can stay injury free in the coming weeks, click here for more info.
