How crazy is this?  In three weeks' time, the Old Mutual Two Oceans Marathon Expo will be in full swing, runners from across the world will be collecting their race numbers, and we will be mere days away from the world's most beautiful marathon!

The recent fires causing devastation across Cape Town's Southern Peninsula have left a question mark around possible route changes. Please read on below for our official statement in this regard.

In the mean time, we urge all runners using Chapman's Peak as a training route to exercise extreme caution. Please be vigilant for rock falls and hug the outer lane (closest to the sea).  Only approach Chappies from Hout Bay - only running to the top lookout - but do listen to any instructions given by personnel working in the area.

We also suggest that you follow @ChapmansPeakSA on Twitter for updates on closures over the next few weeks, and adapt your training plans accordingly.

Remember, our team is on standby to help. Please call us on 021 799 3040 or chat to us on Facebook or Twitter. You can also email us at info@twooceansmarathon.org.za for not-so-urgent matters.

Good luck with your final preparation and tapering. Stay safe and injury-free.

PS:  Don't forget that all race number communications will be electronic this year.  Therefore, it's vital that your mobile number and email address are updated on our website!  More information on this will follow.
