adidas is proud to announce real-time training support for those running the Old Mutual Two Oceans Ultra Marathon, using adidas miCoach technology with a choice of four training programmes by Dr. Ross Tucker.

The miCoach SMART RUN is the most advanced and intuitive wrist based running device on the market. For the first time, runners will be able to track their runs using GPS mapping, monitor their heart rate off their wrist, listen to their favourite music and get real-time coaching – all in a single yet simple, colour touch screen running watch.
There are four training programmes to choose from for those wanting to run under 7 hours, under 6 hours and 30 minutes, under 6 hours, and under 5 hours respectively.
Goal time is under 7 hours (7:30 min/km or 12:04 min/mile).
With only 10 weeks to go, this plan expects a high level of running from the start. There’s also a strong focus on hills. miCoach recommends at least one session a week on a hilly course, and the programme includes hill intervals of about 400m. These workouts help develop the strength and confidence you’ll need to conquer the Two Oceans course.
Recommended schedule: 47 workouts, 6 days a week, over 8 weeks.
Goal time is under 6 hours and 30 minutes (6:57 min/km or 11:12 min/mile).
This plan expects you to have a high level of running already under your belt. This programme starts with a long three-hour run mixed with workouts to help you conquer the race’s hills and distance. Use this programme to prepare both physically and mentally.
Recommended schedule: 47 workouts, 6 days per week, over 8 weeks.
Goal time is under 6 hours (6:25 min/km or 10:20 min/mile).
For this plan, it’s assumed that you already have a high level of running under your belt and that you’re doing weekly training sessions. Great leg and core strength are a must to succeed, and this plan incorporates both. It’s this challenge that makes the race so worthwhile, and this programme works to get you to finish line in great shape!
Recommended schedule: 48 Workouts, 6 days a week, over 8 weeks
Goal time is under 5 hours (5:21 min/km or 8:37 min/mile).
The programme has a strong focus on core and hills throughout, but also introduces a great deal of tempo running, where you’ll hit your half-marathon and marathon paces for sustained periods. The programme starts with a long run of about 3 hours and weekly distance of around 90km, ramping up all the way to week 5.
Recommended schedule: 48 workouts, 7 days per week, over 7 weeks.
