18 & 19 April 2014
With the increase in the half marathon field, there are extra facilities for participants to make getting to the start and leaving the finish as hassle free as possible. Final details are in the official magazine and there will be a stand at the Expo featuring maps with marshals to explain the various options to you. Look out for the parking and meeting points flyer in your registration pack. Remember the best way to avoid stress on race day, no matter where you park, is to ARRIVE EARLY! Parking within easy walking distance of the start has been arranged with local schools at a cost of R30 per vehicle.
Arriving via the M3 southbound, N2 and M5 as well as Lansdowne Road: Below the Main Road near the Newlands Cricket Stadium and Kelvin Grove Club, are the two Groote Schuur High School fields. They are approximately 1km from the start and there will be marshals to guide you to the two starting points. The Groote Schuur parking is easiest for those coming from the City Centre, Northern suburbs and the eastern parts of Cape Town. Proceed along Liesbeek Parkway straight into Campground and Palmyra Roads and park at Groote Schuur fields. This is a short walk to the start. A shuttle service will operate from 07h30 between UCT and the parking areas to allow friends and family to get to the finish and to get runners and their friends back to their cars.
Arriving via the M3 northbound and Rhodes Drive: Above the Main Road between the start and the finish at UCT, you will find the following school fields: Westerford High School, SACS High & Junior School. These are within 500m of the start, they soon fill up, and there is major congestion on the M3 via Princess Anne Road to these points. SACS and Westerford is the best option for those coming from Hout Bay and the Southern Suburbs, as these are the easiest parking areas to access.
Shuttle Service: A shuttle service will run at regular intervals from the finish to all the schools. The service departs from the UCT Info Centre adjacent to the Indoor Sports Centre. Click here for a detailed map.
