Do you have what it takes to be a PUMA Pacer at the Old Mutual Two Oceans Marathon?

We’re looking for experienced runners entered in the 56km and 21km races who wish to assist their fellow runners by leading the official pacing buses to specific goal times.

Your Sacrifice – Your Reward:
In return for your sacrifice to assist others we will reward you with:

  •  A hamper of official Old Mutual Two Oceans Marathon and PUMA running kit and casual wear and other special rewards as celebrities for the event.
  • Each PUMA Pacer will be provided with casual PUMA kit, which should be worn when attending the Old Mutual Two Oceans Marathon Expo and other events on race weekend.
  • Ideally (but not essential) should have run at least two (2) x Two Oceans on the distance they want to pace during the last four (4) years.
  • Must be willing to run the Two Oceans race wearing PUMA clothing and shoes. (Shoes will be provided to suit each runner as soon as recruitment confirmed.)
  • Be willing to guide runners through some other events in your home province to recruit runners to your Two Oceans Marathon Bus.
  • Be willing to interact on the PUMA Pacing Bus Forum with a view to recruiting runners to the bus on race day. (Other social networks such as Twitter and Facebook may also be used.)

We are looking for two to three pacers for each time goal with the following attributes, experience and qualifications:

What you need:
Pacers should be runners who want to assist others to achieve their targets. They should be willing to meet the following requirements and have the indicated running records in the last 2 years:

  • Ideally (but not essential) should have run at least 2 previous Two Oceans on the distance they want to pace in the last 4 years.
  • Must be willing to run in PUMA kit. (Shoes will be provided to suit each runner as soon as recruitment confirmed.)
  • Be of a friendly interactive and motivating character. Initiate spirit in the bus on race day.
  • Be willing to guide runners through some events in home province or other Old Mutual events to recruit runners to join their Two Oceans Marathon Bus.
  • Be willing to interact on the Puma Pacing Bus Forum with a view to recruiting runners to the bus on race day. (Web, Twitter and Facebook are also available.)
  • Will be provided with details of the pacing to be followed for the selected timegoal.

PERFORMANCES REQUIRED FOR PUMA PACING BUS GOAL TIMES:

21km:
1:30 min Bus: must be capable of sub 1:20 half marathon
1:45 min Bus: must be capable of sub 1:35 half marathon
2 hour Bus: must be capable for 1:50 half marathon
3 hour Bus: must be capable of sub 2:40 half marathon

56 km:
4 hour Bus: must be capable of 2:43 marathon
5 hour Bus: must be capable of sub 3:20 marathon
6 hour Bus: must be capable of sub 4 hour marathon
7 hour Bus: must be capable of sub 4:30 marathon
