The spectacular Chapman's Peak Drive that forms part of the world's most beautiful marathon has reopened last week. This road, that hugs the near-vertical face of the mountain from Hout Bay to Noordhoek, was hacked out of the face of the mountain between 1915 and 1922, and was at the time regarded as a major feat of engineering.
