WORKSHOP: ‘POWER, STRENGTH and BEAUTY in WOMEN’S RUNNING’
A workshop entitled ‘POWER, STRENGTH and BEAUTY in WOMEN’S RUNNING’ organised by the Old Mutual Two Oceans Marathon race office and the Sports Science Institute of South Africa (SSISA), and presented by Runner’s World Magazine, will be held on Saturday, February 13 and is aimed at women who intend to take part in the 2010 event on April 3.
This Cape Town workshop will be held at the SSISA conference centre in Boundary Road, Newlands. The highly informative and practical presentations will focus on essential training concepts, nutritional, motivational and technical advice as well as “beauty-on-the run” for women runners.
Speakers include a dietician, physiotherapist, sports scientist, Fairlady Beauty editor, Urban Sanctuary and Frith van der Merwe (Old Mutual Two Oceans women’s record holder). Topics include training tips for the fairer sex, running kit for women, healthy eating for an active lifestyle, coping as a female runner, making life changes, financial fitness, beauty routines-on-the-run and plenty of inspiration, including insights into Frith van der Merwe’s most amazing running experiences and performances.
With sponsors covering the cost of all the catering, the workshop fee is now only R195 and includes a PUMA/Old Mutual gym bag filled with various items, including socks and a small PUMA perfume. Particicpants will also receive handouts from the presentations, light refreshments and a finger-lunch. Registration is between 08h30 and 09h00 and the workshop will run from 09h00 through to 14h30. Participants stand a chance to win great prizes from the sponsors in the lucky draw and there are also spot prizes, which include four pairs of PUMA running shoes, state-of-the-art foot scans and Moyo foot and hand rituals. By signing up for the Cavendish loyalty programme, participants stand a chance of winning a R3 000 Cavendish Square gift card.
Seating is limited and pre-payments are required. Contact Nthabeleng Meso on [021] 659 5649 or email workshop@ssisa.com to book a seat and make the necessary payment arrangements.
