Cape Mental Health
Cape Mental Health has been working to improve the lives of children and adults with mental disabilities and mental health needs for the past 103 years. We promote mental health and run 22 innovative and holistic community-based projects in over 100 communities in the Western Cape.We help people adjust to their disability, adapt to family and community life, and acquire the coping skills they need to achieve their greatest level of independence. Our services benefit more than 18 000 people a year. Subsidies from the Department of Health and the Department of Social Development funded about 54% of our organisation's operational costs. We therefore rely on a sustainability strategy that includes strategic and philanthropic grants and donations, income from various Seta's for skills development, and different income generating initiatives. Our services include assessment, referral, counselling and support. we offer special education and care centres for children with severe or profound intellectual disability and skills training, rehabilitation and work opportunities for adults with psychiatric and intellectual disabilities. our advocacy initiatives, training courses and community awareness programmes prepare society to accept and to accommodate the inclusion of people with mental disabilities.

Together we can uphold the human rights and dignity of persons with mental disability, promote their inclusion in mainstream society, and uplift the care and training provided to mental health care users.SHARE OUR SLOGAN 'all about ability' WHICH REFLECTS OUR BELIEF THAT PEOPLE WITH MENTAL DIABILITY CAN BE HELPED TO REALISE THEIR FULL POTENTIAL.
