the world's most beautiful marathon
Easter Weekend | 18 & 19 April 2014
RACE day is the culmination of months of dedicated toil. You should be proud of yourself because just getting to the start line is an achievement in itself for first time Two Oceans Ultra runners.
My initial introduction to the Two Oceans Marathon came through my girlfriend Letshego Moshoeu who signed me up for the 21km, three years ago.
My most recent race was the Durbanville Pharmacy Dan Luyt 15km night race - I’m not sure why it’s called a night race because the sun was still high up in the sky.
Why I run? When asked about my “running career”, and I refer to that term very loosely, as I feel much like a Jamaican bobsledder finding his way in a whole new world!
My journey to health and wellness started in 2011 as the fitness diarist for Shape magazine. The original mission: To ride – and finish – th100km Karoo To Coast MT
When I told my running partner (four Two Oceans Ultras, three Comrades) that I intended to enter Comrades next year he politely replied that if I so much as enter the Comrades URL into my web brows
Get above the line - here's to a fabulous Two Oceans
The Edinburgh Drive Hill: Meet Hill # 1
With increasing prices in just about every aspect of our lives, we need a pick-me-up, and what better positive energy to endorse than the natural high of running or, in my case, walking slowly really fast.
Two Oceans Recon: The finishing straight to UCT
Two Oceans recon: The "Bends" past Cecilia Forest and Kirstenbosch
Constantia Nek - the second half of the race begins
My training took a turn for the vertiginous last week when I had to attend a wedding at Cathedral Peak in the Drakensberg (just over 3000m above sea level, if you’re interested).
Chapman's Peak descent - steady and controlled to cash in later
