The PBs are Falling

I guess I am in a happy place with my running. I am so looking forward to the Old Mutual Two Oceans Half Marathon that my training, eating, overall fitness and preparation all seem to be coming together.

After a vast number of races last year (over 30) in several countries, I decided on quality over quantity in 2015, hence OMTOM, and to go for my personal bests (PBs) at all distances: 1KM, 1 Mile, 5K, 10K, Half Marathon, Marathon, as well as longest time wise and furthest in distance. And guess what? It is happening already.

I blew away my 1KM record at the Winter Run in London at the beginning of the month, beating my previous best by 57 seconds. And this weekend I stayed at the wonderful Oakley Court hotel, former base of the French Resistance in WW2 and used in numerous films as the castle of Dracula, St Trinians Girls School, and as Frankfurter’s castle in Rocky Horror Picture Show, and ran around the Olympic rowing lake at Eton Dorney. It was flat, I was confident, and somehow beat not only my 10KM PB by 46 seconds, but also smashed my Half Marathon PB by a whopping 7 minutes and 7 seconds.

This is all positive, and I have no more races before the International Friendship 5k on Good Friday and the Old Mutual Two Oceans Half Marathon on Easter Sunday, where I plan on making those PBs fall even more.
